Wooden stand for a lyre – LUTHIEROS Atlas stand
«Atlas, son of Titan Iapetus and Oceanid Asia, has the sky on his shoulders.» — Apollodorus, 3
This is a versatile wooden stand customized for the needs of a LUTHIEROS lyre. It is named after Atlas, a Titan who was closely connected with the myths of the main two heroes of Greek mythology, Hercules and Perseus. A highly skilled mythological figure (renowned for his deep understanding of philosophy, mathematics, and astronomy), Atlas is usually depicted kneeling while supporting the whole earth on his shoulders.
Stand’s modular design enables it to transform based on the shape and dimensions of a given lyre so as to be able to support it with stability. It is made of durable wood with a natural finish, helping the actual center of interest (the lyre) to show in its grandiosity.
The LUTHIEROS Atlas stand is ideal for use with one of our ancient replica lyres, but it can also support a list of other luthiers’ lyres thanks to its modular design. Needless to say that no animal was harmed during the manufacturing process of our Atlas wooden stand.
Historic Accuracy & Playability
It's not a battle. It's about finding the right balance.

Bringing Ancient Artifacts Back to Life
To handcraft premium ancient-replicas with a focus to the modern musician, you have to research a lot, analyze hundreds of ancient depictions, build a lot of prototypes, test them with great musicians, etc.
And all of these, to conclude to meaningful compromises that have to be made, that are both deeply justified and make sense in terms of usability/playability. All in all, our ultimate goal is to serve the modern musician, and to bring ancient artifacts back to life as fully functional musical instruments.
This is true whether you handcraft a prominent musical instrument or a small part of it, an additional accessory for a lyre, or a revolutionary new part to further evolve it. Our master luthiers, along with our R&D team, pay attention to even the most minor of the details, and the big picture always takes care of itself.
